A Thrill of Hope

In the cozy glow of twinkling lights, Christmas is here again. Do you know that magical time when everything sparkles with joy? For me, it used to be like unwrapping the coolest present ever. But lately, it's been different—kind of like Harry Styles sings, "It's not the same as it was." My family keeps asking, "Why aren't you excited for Christmas anymore?" And trust me, I've been asking myself the same thing.

Back in the days when I was a kid, Christmas was THE thing. The presents, the yummy food, and hanging out with my favorite people—it was a holiday dream. But after the wild ride that was 2020, it felt like someone turned down the holiday cheer. Was it the passage of time, or did the enchantment of the season lose its grip on me after the peculiar year that was 2020?

Now, in 2023, I'm on a mission to shake off this Christmas funk and revive the joy that once defined the season for me. I want to break free from the nostalgia trap and create a celebration infused with love, compassion, and community. This means focusing on the people around me and embracing the true spirit of Christmas. Whether it's cooking foods for us to eat, sharing fruits with family, or surprising a friend with a gift, I'm making a conscious effort to celebrate Christmas with a heart full of love and a spirit of compassion. I'm swapping out the stress for smiles, determined to make this Christmas as magical as it was in my childhood storybook. Here's to hoping I can bring back the sparkle and make this holiday season feel like a warm.
