A Day That Will Never Be Forgotten

"Best High School Day Ever," a phrase that has been circulating on Facebook during and even after the foundation day of Ilocos Sur National High School. Many of us, students, have no experience with an event like this, especially students affected by the pandemic. Events like this are usually disapproved because of the circulating virus. It's fortunate that we got to experience a fun high school day where a lot of activities were done.

The foundation day started with a parade by section. It came to our attention that there would be an award for "The Most Disciplined Section," so we, Marconians, prepared for it. Fortunately, we won the award, and we couldn't be more proud of ourselves. Cheers and happy screams were heard as they announced us as the winners. It was a tiring parade, but it was worth it.

Next was the field demo of each grade level. Unfortunately, we couldn't watch the other grade levels' performances due to overpopulation in the field. Furthermore, it was a bright sunny day, so we decided to stay in one covered place while waiting for our turn to perform. Around 11 am, we performed, and it was enjoyable to see people smile as we gave our best. The grade 10 girls won first place, while the grade 10 boys were declared champions. I was disappointed, but I was glad I had the opportunity to showcase my talent and love for dancing. We celebrated by having lunch in our classroom, where contagious laughs could be heard.

At 1:00 pm, we prepared for our organization duties. We set up our booth and waited for customers to come. It was a fun experience since it was my first time selling stuff, though I was embarrassed by whatever I was blabbering, which lessened my dignity. My introverted self was challenged, but overall, I enjoyed every single bit of it. We sold a lot, and I can say that we really did a good job.

At 2:00 pm, the concert started. During the concert, they sang one of my favorite songs, "With A Smile" by Eraserheads. While the song was playing, I couldn't help but think of someone special. She was not physically present, but it felt like she was there beside me, as if we were both at the concert together, singing our hearts out. Suddenly, all the love songs played during the concert were about her. I think this showcases how down bad I am with that person, though I wish she were really there with me. Additionally, it was enjoyable watching students, including us, sing and dance our hearts out like there was no end.

The concert was the last activity of that day. People sang multiple songs, some of which I knew, some I didn't. As I reflect on the day, I have concluded that the school organized an amazing event. I want to express my gratitude towards them for allowing us, students, to escape the harsh reality where problems exist. The event was a healing experience for me, and it was a significant help. Thank you, ISNHS. ISNHS's High School Day will surely never be forgotten.
